Series IV
Political Writings
Edited by the Leibniz-Editionsstelle Potsdam of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
The concept of the political is defined broadly in Series IV, not remaining limited to Leibniz's activity in the service of Hanoverian territorial and dynastic politics, for the Emperor and the Holy Roman Empire, and in the politics of the European powers. His interests also focused on Russia and China. To this are added his reform proposals in economic and social policy including public medicine, his interventions in ecclesiastical politics in an ecumenical spirit, and his projects in cultural and educational policy to organize academies and libraries. Finally, Leibniz's contributions to courtly culture and his poetry are edited in this series.
